Introduction
I first attended General Assembly events, then studied part time User Experience Design with them. After attending events regularly, I started working with General Assembly to host events. The picture below is the last event I hosted for GA at Google Campus London.
During this time I was organising events with partners and finding speakers. The reason for this was partly to organise cool events at great venues, and partly as a lead magnet for General Assembly's UX Design, Web Development and Data Science courses. Partners were typically tech companies and speakers would generally be people who work in the tech industry (Software), while the hosts and venues would be tech companies who may hire the graduates of General Assembly courses.

The last event I organised at General Assembly was by Tim Plyming, the man who led the BBC's digital Olympics programme for London 2012. His profile at the time from the GA website: Tim is currently the Director of Digital Arts and Media at Nesta, overseeing a significant portfolio of work encouraging innovation and collaboration between the arts, technology and media sectors. Prior to working at Nesta, Tim was an Executive Producer in BBC Television, working as editorial lead for all History and Science content online including the BBC’s World War One Centenary season. Previous roles include the first Head of Digital Media and Publishing at the British Museum, conceiving and delivering ‘Pompeii Live’ – an international cinema event with gross sales of over £1m. Previous roles include project leadership of the BBC’s award winning Digital Olympics programme, delivering 2,500 hours of Olympic Games content over digital platforms. Tim was also responsible for launching the first web sites for key broadcast brands including BBC Radio 2 & BBC 6Music and newspapers including The Times, Sun and Sunday Times. Tim serves on the Board of The Space, a partnership between the BBC and Arts Council England and Musical Futures, an organisation supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, dedicated to finding new and imaginative ways of engaging young people in music. Tim also sits on the Board of ‘Shakespeare Lives’ a global initiative led by British Council and The Prime Minister’s Office, celebrating Shakespeare’s life on the 400th anniversary of his death in 2016
