Books & Art
A collection of literary works, essays, films, and artwork that have influenced and inspired me throughout my intellectual journey.
Books
I’ve read thousands of books, essays and articles. Reading has has such a profound impact and so I have chosen a few of my favourite titles across some core topics, including human behaviour, design, religion and science. This is of course not an exhaustive list, more a place one can find some interesting reads.
In future I’ll add more to the list and write a little about some of the books that were the most impactful and why. Some are merely interesting while others are special, for language, insights or learning with a practical application in the design section. If I had to pick just one out of them all for maximum accessibility it would be the Universal Principles of Design pocket book. It’s an incredibly easy read and introduces some fundamental concepts about human behaviour and behavioural psychology. The Cathedral effect and wisdom of crowds are two examples that come easily to mind.
"Imagine yourself in any foreign land, and quick as your intention you will be there! Think of the ocean - and there you are. You have not moved as things move, but you have travelled nevertheless. Fly up to the heavens - you wont need wings." - The Hermetica
Art & Architecture
Hallucinogenic Toreador
My favourite painting. I was first introduced to Dali after seeing the Metamorphosis of Narcissus at the Tate Modern in London. Looking more into his work led me to this masterpiece.
Sagrada Familia
My favourite building of all the architecture I’ve seen. It’s a true masterpiece with attention to detail, like tubular bells and originally styled stained glass windows that draw light across the walls.
